JPA Supports Emergency Citrus Disease Response Act

As the trade association representing juice processors in the US, the Juice Products Association (JPA) proudly announces its support of HR 3957, the Emergency Citrus Disease Response Act. JPA values the US citrus growers as an essential part of the juice industry, and recognizes their important contribution to the availability of fruit juice. JPA openly encourages research and supports legislation that works to prevent the spread and devastation of citrus diseases.

Speaking on behalf of the JPA membership, JPA Executive Director Carol Freysinger said, “we applaud Florida Rep. Vern Buchanan’s efforts to combat the significant effects of HLB, better known as citrus greening, by introducing legislation that gives citrus growers incentives to  replant, cultivate, and maintain their groves impacted by citrus greening.”  Further, JPA strongly urges all members of the US House of Representative’s Committee on Ways and Means to pass HR 3957 and bring this legislation up for a vote on the House floor. The passage of the Emergency Citrus Disease Response Act is an important step in protecting the citrus growers around the country from economic devastation.

JPA is a US-based trade association whose international membership consists of major processors, manufacturers and distributors of a wide variety of fruit and vegetable juices, juice beverages and drinks. Our members represent a significant majority of the juice and juice beverage processors in the United States, including major citrus grower/processors in Florida, California and Texas.
