JPA Draft Comments - Health Canada Nutrition Labeling Consultation (Input Requested by August 17, 2015)
JPA has been providing updates regarding Health Canada's proposal to update Canada's nutrition labeling regulations, including the Nutrition Facts table. In 2014, JPA submitted comments to Health Canada expressing concern regarding a number of the proposed changes to the nutrition labeling regulations.
On June 22, 2015, JPA staff notified members that Health Canada was continuing its efforts to update nutrition labeling, and the Agency had published a consultation in the Canada Gazette, available here, in response to comments made by the food industry, consumers and health organization and parents in consultations held in 2014. Other materials are available here detailing the proposed revisions to Canada's nutrition labels.
JPA requested input from members regarding the proposed revisions, and conference calls of the JPA Nutrition Facts Panel Committee and interested members were held to consider comments to the Agency. A copy of JPA's draft comments can be accessed here. Please review the letter and provide your input to me or Diane Welland (dwelland@kellencompany.com) by the close of business on August 17, 2015. If no comments are received, the letter will be submitted to Health Canada, as drafted by the August 27 deadline.
