RE: JPA Draft Comments – USP Guidance on Food Fraud Mitigation (Input Requested by 12 noon (Eastern) on March 30, 2015)
JPA staff previously notified members that the U.S. Pharmacopeial Convention (USP) had published a proposed guidance, “Guidance on Food Fraud Mitigation,” (Appendix XVII to the Food Chemicals Codex), available here, to assist manufacturers and regulators in how to identify the most fraud vulnerable ingredients and how to choose effective mitigation tools to combat economically motivated adulteration (EMA). The JPA Technical Affairs Committee earlier considered the guidance and recommended that JPA submit comments to USP noting JPA does not support formalization of an industry standard document.
Attached are JPA’s draft comments. Please review and provide your input to me by 12 noon (Eastern time) on March 30, 2015.
As always, please contact me with questions or comments.
